Three Sisters

I am still reading in the book Speaking from the Heart. Here are some thoughts from reading this weekend…..

Who is this who seems so interested in everyone’s everything, who knows all the juicy details to all the lives around them. Giving and spreading bits and pieces of taste morsels here and there and everywhere. Spreading tales of every persons sorted ways, trials and tribulationsBUSYBODY!!

 Timothy 5:13
Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.

Who is this who thinks they are so wonderful to have such privileged knowledge. Walking by others with the “I AM IN THE KNOW” look because I hang with so and so. Just to prove that they are so grand to be in the inner circle of that one, will drop you a little secret information of private affairs that should only be raised in a prayer closetWHISPERER!!

Proverbs 16:28
A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

Who is this that finds just the right moment to cut that other person down by giving you an earful of who that other person “really is!” This is the one who face to face is so kind and gentle see, but behind your back they are out to stab and make a mockery of you, by casting you in a darkened light to throw your reputation in the mud. They say what ever they have to say so that the one hearing feels the same way they do about you.SLANDERER!!

Proverbs 26:22
The words of a whisperer or slanderer are like dainty morsels or words of sport [to some, but to others are like deadly wounds]; and they go down into the innermost parts of the body [or of the victim’s nature].

These are the THREE SISTER’s …Three cords that wrap real tight….the braid they are creating is GOSSIP!!

Proverbs 26:20
Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.

Father, May I refrain my tongue  from being of use to these three sisters of Gossip. May I put LOVE on my tongue and ears by not being a part of gossip’s wood for the flame.

Our pastor, yesterday morning, expanded on the 6th commandment….Thou shalt not murder and he used as an example how our words, hate, slandering, etc is viewed as the same as murder in God’s eyes (murder begins in the heart).

    Matthew 5:21-22
You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement. And whoever says to his brother ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

I am reminded of the scripture you used Prov. 26:20 anytime I hear someone gossipping or trying to stir something up! It helps me to refrain from participating! Although it is very easy to get caught up in. We must continually guard ourselves against any involvement in any of the above mentioned in your post……great prayer to pray! XO

  4. You went super deep…lets not forget:

    Romans 1:28-32

“Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.

They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are GOSSIPERS, SLANDERERS, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who Do SUCH THINGS DESERVE DEATH, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”

Gossip and slander is grouped right up there with murder! (Not to mention faithless!?) Right about now I’m praying the same prayer that you closed with!
