Mending a broken heart

We encounter hurtful stuff all the time. Most the time we let is slide off and move on without much thought. What if that slide at the bottom is a pile of little things adding up like a decomposing  landfill. The size of a landfill pile determines the rate that things decompose.  I personally think decomposing trash is stinky and gross, I would rather not have that hanging out in my soul.

When I encounter hurt caused from an awareness of being unloved or cared for by someone more focused on themselves it rips by heart wide open. I usually am not one to just let it slide off. I want to do something about it!

It is the reason we get nasty attitudes or hard hearted. We let the piles of hurt rise or we do what I have done many times in my life and that is stitch our own hearts with needles of “never again” and threads of steel protection. Neither works very well. Thank You Papa God for being a heart mender, who stitches me back together with a needles of kindness and the threads of joy.

So how do we get over stuff like that?

Like the old hymn What a friend we have in Jesus says “ take it to the Lord in prayer.”

Psalm 34:18 the Lord is near to the broken hearted.

A friend of mine named Venus once said to me “ Girl, don’t you know that all it takes for you to become aware of being with the Lord is to close your eyes and you are with Him.

2Cor 6: 16b

For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”

Sadly, we don’t close our eyes instead we keep looking to the world to love us.

Ps – nothing out there will mend you. Sit with your Papa instead. Take every little thing to Him. Keep from having a stinky pile and hard steel heart.

My daughter wrote a song that touches well on this topic. May we remember who we belong to:

where’s my faith?

The things of God require a lot of faith.

Without the Faith that God can perform His work through us, we are just…Performing in our own strength.

I was reading this verse:

James 1:6But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

Have you ever doubted like I have.

When I am not sure that I know God is behind me doing it all through me. When my focus changes from God to myself,  I am just like this verse says….

Like a wave of the sea…

I am UP and DOWN emotionally.

I am fighting in my mind and I am not settled.

that is driven ….

I feel compelled within to succeed…and not in a good way. I feel like I have to be the best. (because this depends on me) I become competitive in my heart. I wonder what I “look like” in the eyes of other people.

and tossed ….

I feel irritable and disturbed. I am confused at why things aren’t working out they way I want them to.

by the wind….

by anything that comes up against me. .. change in circumstances….people…even God.

See when we are a people who live this way. We get our eyes on ourselves and we start to think “ It’s all about me!” even if we don’t say it, even if we hide it well, if we are not living by faith, we are living by in our power and strength.

A simple turning of my thoughts to God as the one who is my strength. A remembering that He is the one guiding me. If I choose to be settled in my heart that God works through me. As I begin to get my focus off me and on Him who created me to be his instrument, my prayers start to become statements of Faith! Without Him …I’m basically praying to myself.

If we want blessings from God, nothing can fetch them down but faith. Prayer cannot draw down answers from God’s throne except it be the earnest prayer of the man who believes. Faith is the angelic messenger between the soul and the Lord Jesus in glory. -Charles Spurgeon
